Westside School, 3-7 Third Avenue, London, W10 4RS

about us

The Westside School is based in the London Borough of Westminster, one hundred yards from the Harrow Road. It is a school for mainstream students in Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) needing more individual attention and educational support in order to complete their GCSE programme of study. It is full-time and 5 days per week.

Westside is a relatively new school started in October 2006 on a charitable basis, to show that young people who have come off track should have a chance to go forward and succeed in a supportive educational environment. Many of our students have found the large and often rigid setting of mainstream education challenging; some not all have been at risk of exclusion. Several students come from families facing stress, often bereavement. Many of our students have Special Educational Needs. We spend a great deal of time focusing on these individual needs, as well as motivational needs.

The school is run by a Head Teacher with many years experience teaching in different types of schools. He works with a variety of staff who bring a range of ability and talent in various academic and sporting fields including drama, art, boxing and PE. The school also benefits from the support of an active board of local trustees who are committed to lifting the education opportunities of vulnerable youth.

The focus of Westside School is both academic and personal achievement whilst recognising the need to apply these skills to the field of employment by way of work experience placements and further education (beyond Year 11).
